Building a portfolio of products with AI agents
How I run ten products at once from a backend dashboard and a daily check-in with the AI agents doing the building — and what shipped across the portfolio this week.

I build software the way most people think is still a few years away: a portfolio of real products, each one moving forward every day, driven by AI agents I check in with like a team. This is the first of what will be a running series of field notes from that workbench — what's actually working, what shipped, and where the sharp edges are.
The setup
Right now there are ten products in the portfolio. Six of them are already live and taking real users or real money:
- EventOps — an event-management ERP, live and in free beta at eventops.africa
- FieldForce SA — field-service management with Paystack payments, live at fieldforce.business
- ColourIQ — a privacy-first colour-analysis activation for a Mall of Africa campaign
- Hans Rooseboom Art — a custom portfolio and store for a Johannesburg fine artist
- AnswerRank — a micro-SaaS that tracks how brands show up inside AI answers
- FundReady SA — done-for-you funding and tender toolkits, sold as digital products
The other four — ForgeReply, BoreHub, PropFlow and GeoAfrika — are in active development.
No single person types all of that. The work is done by AI agents, each one scoped to a project, and my job has shifted from writing every line to directing, reviewing and deciding. That only works if I can see everything at a glance and trust that the important calls still come to me.
The daily check-in
Every morning is a stand-up with the agents. I look at what moved overnight, what's blocked, and what needs a human decision — a payment going live, a pricing change, a piece of public copy. The agents propose; I approve. The ones that touch money or go out in public always wait for me.
What makes it sustainable is a backend dashboard that pulls the whole portfolio into one view: which products are live, which repos moved this week, what's waiting on me. Instead of ten mental tabs, it's one board. The difference between running one product and running ten isn't ten times the effort — it's having a system that makes the tenth one no harder than the first.
This week across the portfolio
A genuinely busy week — every project in the portfolio saw commits:
- FieldForce SA shipped Paystack payments and a full email + notifications layer, so jobs now get paid on sign-off instead of weeks later.
- EventOps hardened its multi-tenant security — real owner-scoped row-level security across events, messaging and billing — and split its marketing site from the app.
- Hans Rooseboom Art added transactional order-receipt emails and an AI post generator with Pinterest scheduling.
- AnswerRank went from idea to a live, deployed product — landing, free audit, dashboard, Stripe checkout and a scheduled scan engine.
- FundReady SA wired up live checkout and a funding-readiness wizard.
Why this matters
The point isn't that AI writes code. The point is that a single operator, with the right system around them, can now run a portfolio — build, ship, host and market real products in parallel — and keep the quality bar where it needs to be because the humans-only decisions stay with the human.
This site now updates itself off the back of that system: as products ship and go live, the work here keeps pace, and these notes will keep coming. If you want one of these built for your business, book a session — that's the actual day job.
